What will he do next?

Well yesterday and today Robert definitely attempted to communicate with us using signs.  First, he was getting his diaper changed yesterday, and he started making the motion for 'milk' in sign language. I do this sign and say nurse every time he nurses, and sometimes just before when I think he is getting hungry.  Robert has never signed it to me but I knew that eventually he would if I just kept with it.  Anyways, he was laying on the changing table and was squeezing his hand.  When it finally dawned on me what he was doing I said, "Do you want to nurse?" and did the motion.  He got soooo excited and was doing the sign back to me.  This was the best feeling in the world for me!!!

The past couple days Robert has been attempting to wave Hi & Bye, and tonight when Grammy was leaving, he waved goodbye to her.  His face was lighting up when he was doing it.  Another great moment for mommy!!

I already shared that he recently started solid foods, so I figured I would share a few pictures of his first few meals.

'I'm not sure about the texture of this mom.'

'Hmmmm....'

"Oh, yeah!  I remember tasting this in mommy's belly.  She ate ALOT of this!"

I can't get enough of that face!  Even if it is messy.

7 Months

I know I've said it before, but time seems to be flying!  This past Thursday Robert turned 7 months old. We had yet again, another fun filled month with Mr. Robert.  He gained about half a pound and grew a quarter inch since last month.  The babbling that fills our house is wonderful.  Robert is now saying 'Dada', 'Ma/Mama', and 'De' (which we notice he says when our dog Bear comes around).  He doesn't realize yet what 'Dada' and 'Mama' mean, but it still fills our hearts with so much joy.  Especially Ryan, since he says 'Dada' more often.  He started crawling this month, but not yet on his knees.  Robert can army crawl places very quickly!!  Teething is in full force.  He still has no teeth but he is chewing on EVERYTHING!!  The other big event this month was he started eating food.  His first few foods were avocado, banana, carrots, and pears.  I guess he is like his parents, and loves food.  He is always excited at meal time.

This month he also when on his fifth flight.  Robert and I took our first flight just the two of us.  We went to New Orleans to visit my friend Jenna and meet her new baby Ava (3 months old).  Robert LOVED watching Ava.  She would be laying there and he would reach out to touch her.  He even gave her a kiss!

Such a typical sight this month!

He still has those wonderful cheeks I love to kiss.

"Oh, something for me to chew on."

"Yummy."

"Mama, are we done?"

6 Months

Robert celebrated his half birthday earlier this week.  I seriously can't believe it!!  My little man is growing up way to fast.  I didn't really believe it when people said, 'They grow-up fast.  Enjoy these times.'  In the past six months, Robert has changed soooo much.  He has lost a lot of hair, lighter hair has grown back in, doubled his weight, grew 5 inches, sits up unassisted, smiles not because of gas, and coos at his mommy and daddy, just to name a few of these changes.

This past month didn't plan to be busy, but some how ended up being busy.  Robert's Great Grandpa Petersen passed away so the three of us went back to Indiana to help my mom clean out his house and get it ready to be sold.  We were there for a week.  This trip was Robert's 4 flight, and once again he did great!  Even on the return trip when he had his first cold, and it was delayed 4 hours.  Robert managed to sleep most of the delay and the entire flight!

Robert is getting close to crawling.  He scoots backwards, turns himself in circles, rolls from front to back and back to front, attempts to pull his knees under him, but he still doesn't have his belly completely off the ground just yet.  Music, books, eating, and bath time are still his favorite!  I feel so blessed to wake up every morning to his smiling face.  My little man loves life and people so much!!

Check out how much Robert has changed since 1 month old.

I can't wait to see what the next six months brings.

Storing up some 'nuts' for winter in those cheeks.  ;)

"What Mom?"

"Are we done yet?"

Bear thought he needed his picture taken too.

Look how BIG he is getting!!

Robert -
We love you very much and feel so blessed to have you as our son!  The past six months have been a blast.  We love listening to you laugh, watching you learn new things, and seeing you light up when we come in the room because you recognize us.  You are amazing & our little snuggle puppy!!

Bath Time

Robert's favorite nights of the week are Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday because of bath time.  He absolutely LOOOOOVES it!!  He likes laying in the little net part of the tub.  I think it's for newborns, but he still likes it.  :)  His little legs start kicking water everywhere and he giggles so much every time I set him in there.  Robert loves when I spray him with water too.

Bath time is also a favorite of mine because I can see how much he enjoys it!

5 Months

My baby is 5 months old!  This was a hard month for me because I started back to work.  Robert is being watched at our house by our wonderful friend Cheryl.  I wish I could stay home with him, but right now that is not an option for us, so I feel blessed to know that he is being taken good care of in the comfort of our home.

Robert continues to gain weight and grow taller.  This month he is weighing in at 17 pounds 8 ounces and measures 26 inches tall.  My little man giggles and squeals, loves to read books, is starting to sit up unassisted, puts everything in his mouth, is starting to roll around to move places, loves playing with Bear, singing songs is another favorite, and enjoys Facetime with his Grandma KB.  When Ryan gets home from work, Robert always smiles with delight.  I really miss our morning snuggle time but cherish them even more on the weekends.

(Lots of pictures this time.  I got a little carried away.)

Those cheeks still get me!

His rolls are amazing!

My Mr. Cool

Yummy!

Bear decided he wanted to play too.

Bear enjoys licking anything Robert has spit up on.  Soooo gross!

"Let's play Bear."

Best Buddies!

He is starting to push himself up.

Those eyes...and that smirk!!

Lots of giggling in our house.

Michigan & 4th of July

We took a family vacation to Michigan for the 4th of July.  It was a wonderful vacation!!  The first part of our trip we got to see my friend Amanda and her family, and Grandma Jan had a party for family and friends to meet Robert.  The rest of our vacation was filled with sunsets, yummy food, beach time, campfires, family time, and lots of laughs.

Jason, Quintin, and Ryan enjoying the party.

Mrs. Compton held Robert for his entire nap!

4 Months

WOW! This past month has gone by sooooo fast!  Robert traveled to Colorado and Michigan on family vacations.  His flight to CO was a little difficult because of the quick up and down, but he had a much better time going to MI.  His sweet personality is really shining these days.  Robert loves smiling and interacting with people.  He really enjoys flirting with the ladies.  When he sleeps, Robert loves to hold his bunny that Grammy Sue made for him before he was born.  He pulls it up to his face and attempts to cover his eyes with it while he begins to fall asleep.  The little blonde patch of hair on the back of his head always seems to be standing up.

Our days are filled with lots of music, reading books, tummy time, wiggling around, laughing, chewing his fists, smiling, and cooing.

Look at those cheeks!

'I want my frog!'

I just can't get enough of that smile!

"Mmmmmm this tastes good."

Bear loves hanging out with Robert and me.
